I studied Nutritional Therapy at the Institute of Health Sciences where I graduated with distinction in 2010 and previous to this, qualified as a pharmacy technician with Trinity College Dublin. Not satisfied and wanting to learn more, I am currently a Masters of Science Degree student, studying Advanced Nutrition.
While having a full appreciation of drugs and the healthcare industry, as a result of dispensing and being a pharmacy manager for over 10 years, I was always drawn to the science and healing powers of foods and nutrients and the tremendous impact that lifestyle has on our health outcomes and more importantly the quality of that health. Since 2010, I work exclusively in the area of nutrition and natural health in my clinic at 5 Catherine St, Waterford City.
I work on the basis that optimum health is 360 degree picture, of which a healthy diet is a significant part but must also take into account emotional health, genetics and environmental factors. Alongside my 4 year diploma in nutritional therapy, I also hold a certificate in health and wellness coaching which gives me the skills to maximise my clients ability to make the necessary and lasting lifestyle changes. I am passionate about the fact that optimal health is not merely the absence of illness, and so, work with my clients to achieve the best possible energy levels, slowing the ageing process and reversing or avoiding disease.
I have a special interest in the area of using food and nutrition to improve fertility (registered foresight practitioner), female hormone balance and balancing thyroid function.
